April 1, 2020

The act of jumping from an airplane, with a special parachute strapped to your back, which allows a person to travel a long horizontal distance before landing is referred to as ‘Paragliding’. This adrenaline pumping sport has achieved traction and is now considered a perfect alternative adventure sport in regards to the climate and geography of Nepal.

Paragliding in Pokhara is one of the classic activities to do, such as boating in the Phewa. The proximity of the Sarangkot (1,600m) and the height difference with the lake, creates ideal conditions for its practice. It is very common to see in the first and last hours of the day, an authentic flock of human birds. Travelers who decide to have the spectacular views of Pokhara from the air. And if you’re lucky, I didn’t have it by going to the end of the monsoon, enjoying incredible views of the Himalayas.

Sarangkot Hill in Pokhara is considered as the runway for all the take-off in relation to paragliding. The hill lies at the elevation of 1592 meters above sea level. The flight is approximately 30 mins. During the flight you will be able to view the majestic Annapurna Massif surrounding the city, before you land in the outskirts of Phewa Lake.  During the flight you will have the opportunity to  gaze upon the stunning sunrise and sunset through the snow capped mountain range around the city of Pokhara.

No previous experience is required for paragliding in Nepal because paragliding flights are launched by fully trained and experienced guides who have full knowledge of local and Himalayan weather conditions. Paragliding in Pokhara can also be done before and after any hike in the Annapurna region or during the Pokhara and Kathmandu tour.
